Crack and Trad Leading Clinic

This a two day clinic where we will spend 8 hours each day perfecting our skills to be come self-sufficient trad climbers. We will learn about traditional gear placements, trad anchors, crack climbing techniques, multi-pitch systems and so much more.

Day 1

-Leave No Trace principals

-Standard trad rack, passive and active protection

-Gear placements

-Building a simple trad anchor

-Basic crack climbing techniques (hand and foot jamming)

-Placing gear on mock lead

-Multi pitch belay management

-Safe rappel techniques

Day 2

-More practice placing gear

-Testing our gear placements

-Complex trad anchors

-Advanced crack climbing techniques (finger locks, ring locks and stacks)

-Multi pitch transitions

If you have been sport climbing or climbing in the gym and want to learn trad climbing from a certified AMGA Rock Guide, this class is for you.

To join this class you should be able to climb 5.8, and must be confident in belaying and tying in.
